Gravel driveways and roads, built to last and renewed when they are not
New installs from the subgrade up, and renewals for tired drives.
Done with our Kubota SVL75-3 Compact Track Loader
A gravel driveway fails for two reasons: not enough of the right rock, and water with nowhere to go. We build new driveways and farm roads from the subgrade up, and we renew worn ones by regrading, fixing drainage, and adding fresh rock where it is needed.
Tell us the length, the width, and what the drive has to carry, and we will put the rock quantity, the drainage plan, and the price in writing.
Good for
- New driveways and access roads
- Washboarded, rutted, or potholed gravel
- Long farm and field roads
- Parking areas and equipment pads
- Culverts and ditches along the road
How it goes
Step 1: Walk and measure
Length, width, traffic, and how the water moves across the site.
Step 2: Prep the subgrade
Clear, shape, crown, and ditch the roadbed so water leaves it.
Step 3: Place and compact
Base rock in layers, compacted, then the surface layer on top.
Step 4: Final grade
A final grade and a talk about how to keep the drive in shape.
What affects the price
We do not publish flat prices for land work, because no two properties are alike. These are the things that move your bid.
- Length, width, and depth, which set the tons of rock
- Rock type for the base layer and the surface layer
- Condition of the existing surface and drainage
- Culverts and ditching
- Distance rock is hauled
Questions
How much gravel do I need?
It depends on length, width, and how much traffic and weight the drive will carry. A residential driveway needs several inches of compacted base rock plus a surface layer, and heavier traffic needs more. We calculate the tonnage in your bid.
How long will it last?
A properly crowned, well-drained driveway on a solid base can go years between touch-ups. Poor drainage is what wrecks gravel fastest. Plan on regrading and topping off every few years depending on traffic.
Can you fix a washboarded drive without replacing everything?
Often, yes. Regrading, reshaping the crown, fixing drainage, and adding rock only where it is thin costs far less than starting over.
