Brush cutting for overgrown fields, fence lines, and acreage

Cut back what a regular mower will not touch.

When a field has gone to briars, saplings, and head-high weeds, a regular mower will not touch it. We cut it back with a heavy-duty brush cutter on our track loader, taking down woody growth and tall vegetation and leaving the area open and walkable again.

It is the right tool for the thick stuff that is too small to justify mulching and too tough for ordinary mowing: neglected pasture, fence rows, ditch banks, and acreage that has been left alone for years.

Good for

  • Overgrown fields and hay ground
  • Fence lines and property boundaries
  • Ditches, banks, and drainage easements
  • Acreage left alone for years
  • Pre-sale cleanup

How it goes

  1. Step 1: Look at the ground

We check for stumps, rocks, wire, and ditches that affect how we cut.

  2. Step 2: Set the scope

Cut height, boundaries, and what to skip, agreed up front.

  3. Step 3: Cut it down

Passes across the area until it is cut to the height we agreed on.

  4. Step 4: Plan the follow-up

Most overgrown ground needs a cut each growing season. We can schedule it.

What affects the price

We do not publish flat prices for land work, because no two properties are alike. These are the things that move your bid.

  • Acreage and the height and thickness of the growth
  • Terrain, ditches, and slopes
  • Hidden hazards like stumps, rocks, and old wire
  • Whether you want a one-time cut or a recurring schedule
  • Distance to the job site

Questions

How is brush cutting different from forestry mulching?

Brush cutting is above-ground mowing: it cuts vegetation down but leaves root systems and larger stems. Mulching goes further, grinding larger brush and small trees. If you mostly have weeds, briars, and saplings, brush cutting is faster and more economical.

How often should it be done?

Most overgrown ground needs a follow-up cut each growing season to stay open. We are happy to set up a recurring schedule.

Can I rent a brush cutter instead?

Yes. The brush cutter is one of the attachments for our track loader. Check the rental page for rates and availability.
