Forestry mulching: cleared land without the burn piles
Brush and small trees ground into mulch right where they stand.
Done with our Kubota SVL75-3 Compact Track Loader
A forestry mulcher shreds standing brush, saplings, and small-to-medium trees into a layer of wood chips right where they stand. There is nothing to burn and nothing to haul, and the mulch left behind helps hold soil and slow erosion while new growth gets established.
It is the fastest way to reclaim overgrown fence lines, trails, pastures, and wooded edges, and it disturbs the soil far less than pushing vegetation out by the roots.
Good for
- Overgrown pasture and fence lines
- Trails, hunting lanes, and food plots
- Invasive brush and encroaching cedar
- Thinning and cleaning up wooded edges
- Utility, pipeline, and access corridors
- Fire breaks and defensible space
How it goes
Step 1: Mark the work area
We walk the boundaries with you and flag the trees and features that stay.
Step 2: Mulch in passes
The mulching head works through the vegetation, grinding it to chips in place.
Step 3: Detail the edges
We clean up around obstacles, fences, and the trees you kept.
Step 4: Walk it with you
A final walkthrough, plus advice on seeding or follow-up cutting if you want it.
What affects the price
We do not publish flat prices for land work, because no two properties are alike. These are the things that move your bid.
- Acreage and how dense the vegetation is
- Tree sizes. Larger timber may need to be felled or handled separately
- Terrain, slope, and wet ground
- Rocks, old fence wire, and hidden debris
- Distance to the job site
Questions
Does mulching remove stumps?
A mulcher grinds stumps down to about ground level, but it does not dig roots out. If you are building on the spot, tell us. We may recommend traditional clearing or stump removal with the excavator.
What size trees can you mulch?
Mulching is best suited to brush, saplings, and small-to-medium trees. We will tell you plainly if a stand of larger timber calls for a different approach, such as felling and removing the big trees first.
How long does the mulch take to break down?
It depends on the species and moisture, but expect the layer to blend into the soil over a year or two. Many customers seed grass or food-plot mix into it.
Will grass grow back?
Yes. Ask us about timing and seeding when you request the bid, and we will point you in the right direction.
